USC Sumter Student-Athletes Shine Academically in 2024–2025

Sumter, SC — June 2, 2025 — The University of South Carolina Sumter proudly celebrates the academic excellence of its student-athletes for the 2024–2025 academic year. Demonstrating a strong commitment to both their sports and studies, USC Sumter's student-athletes have once again proven that academic achievement is a top priority.

Impressively, over half of student-athletes earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher, reflecting the department's ongoing dedication to academic success.

Among the highlights:

• 11 student athletes achieved a 4.0 GPA.
• A total of 113 student-athletes achieved a GPA of 3.0 or above, showcasing their ability to balance rigorous athletic commitments with academic responsibilities.
• Teams showed academic success, as well:
• • Baseball – 3.002 GPA
  • • 5 earned a 4.0 GPA
    • 29 of 43 earned a 3.0 GPA or higher (NJCAA eligibility roster)
    • 46 of 74 earned a 3.0 GPA or higher (baseball program)
  • Men's Golf – 3.17 GPA
  • • 7 of 10 earned a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Men's Soccer – 3.29 GPA –
  • • 3 students achieved a 4.0 GPA
    • 23 of 33 students achieved a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Men's Tennis – 3.69 GPA
  • • 7 of 8 student athletes earned a 3.5 GPA or higher
    • 2 students achieved a 4.0 GPA
  • Women's Tennis – 3.59 GPA –
  • • 6 of 7 had a 3.4 GPA or higher.

"These results reflect the hard work, discipline, and resilience of our student-athletes," said Dr. Age Cataldo, Director of Athletics. "We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and the support provided by our coaches, faculty, and staff."
