Sophomore Jeb Britt improved his record to 4-0 with his best pitching performance of the season en route to the USC Sumter baseball team winning Game 2, but a close Game 1 victory and a Game 3 win sealed the series for Florence-Darlington Technical College. Britt pitched a 7 inning complete game on Saturday, surrending only four hits and one earned run while addings 7 strikeouts. Ants scored in each the 4th, 5th and 6th inning started by Carew Bates' solo HR in the 4th, his 6th of the year. USC Sumter took the 1st lead in Game 1 on a Jaxon Jean RBI double, but the Stingers' 4 run seven inning put the game out of reach with FDTC winning Game 1 9-3. Top hitting performers in the Friday matchup were Jasean Perry and Ryan Piekutoski both collecting two hits, while Carew Bates added a solor HR. Game 3 saw Florence-Darlington Tech and USC Sumter scoreless after 3 innings, but a flurry of multi-run frames for the Stingers' offense sealed the victory and series. USC Sumter baseball record now sits at 17-9 and 6-5 in Region 10. Fire Ants next matchup will be back at Riley Park vs. Brunswick CC Wednesday, March 18th for a doubleheader starting at 1:00pm.
