Lancaster, S.C. — August 26, 2025 — The USC Sumter Fire Ants men's soccer team captured their first NJCAA Region 10 win of the season with a 3-1 road victory over USC Lancaster on Tuesday evening.
The Fire Ants struck first in the 35th minute when Xaver-Joel Jänisch scored unassisted to give USC Sumter a 1-0 lead at halftime. In the second half, Luciano Viejo extended the lead with an unassisted goal in the 58th minute. After USC Lancaster cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 68th minute, Viejo responded quickly, netting his second goal of the match in the 71st minute to seal the 3-1 win.
USC Sumter finished with six shots on goal, while USC Lancaster managed eight shots and one goal.
The Fire Ants will look to build on this momentum when they travel to face Southwest Virginia Community College on Saturday, August 30. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:00 AM.
