Fire Ants Close Indoor T&F Season at the ASICS Last Chance Invitational
Fire Ants Men's and Women's T&F team finish Indoor season strong against a tough field of competitors.
The Fire Ants Men's and Women's Track & Field team had an outstanding showing at the "ASICS Last Chance Invitational" held at the JDL Fast Track in Winston Salem, NC on Saturday February 21, 2026. This meet featured 30 teams to include schools from the Atlantic Coast Conference making the competition intense. The Fire Ants had three season best performances and eight Personal records in races consisting of the 60M, 200M, and 400M, along with gutsy performances in the men's and women's shot put. The men's team highlighted by Tariq Jones who's impressive 400M time of 50.64 led to an indoor personal record. He followed up with a team leading 22.97 seconds in the 200M. For the women, T'Najeh Duncome once again displayed her impressive speed in the 60M dash, finishing eighth in the preliminaries with a time of 8.17 seconds which qualified her for the final heat. In the women's 60M final, T'Najeh finished seventh with a time of 8.13 seconds. Aden Newkirk led the men's 60M efforts with a season best time of 7.28 seconds. The Fire Ants will begin their Outdoor Track and Field season with the Savanah State Eye Opener on March 7, 2026.
